In partnership with Microsoft, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, and the Grand-Est Region, the Josephine Baker project is part of a cultural initiative paying tribute to the memory of this remarkable woman.
Through the experience, you can explore the key stages of Josephine Baker’s life. This holographic application immerses you in the world of an iconic Parisian performer, celebrated for her exotic dances and unique charisma. It then highlights her contribution to the war effort within the French armed forces and the Resistance, and finally, her lifelong social struggles, issues that sadly remain relevant today.
The development of this prototype required several technological integrations. Among them is motion capture, a recurring tool in our video game productions at Asobo, which allows us to animate our avatar by perfectly reproducing the movements of a human body in a virtual space. IoT also plays a role, with a vintage radio connected to the holographic experience, enabling interaction between the physical set and the virtual world — one step further toward total user immersion.
